Kristen Longdo

Community Care Worker , Atlohsa Native Family Healing Services

Kristen Longdo is 24-year-old Haudenosaunee, Mohawk female, belonging to the wolf clan. She is also a Fanshawe College and University of Western Ontario graduate, completing the Police Foundations program in 2016 and a double bachelor’s degree in criminology and Sociology in 2019. She has also conducted research at Western University throughout the summer of 2019, which involved her adding more Indigenous content into an introduction to sociology textbook. In early 2019, Kristen began working with the homeless population of London, Ontario at the Atlohsa Native Family Healing Services. Her job entails focusing in on Indigenous peoples experiencing chronic or acute homelessness, addiction, and mental health crisis’ and providing ongoing support for these individuals spiritually, emotionally and physically while enforcing expression through cultural traditions and practices. Through her personal, professional and academic journey, Kristen has become very passionate about working with Indigenous peoples, as it has allowed her to learn more about her own culture while applying her current knowledge and cultural awareness.
